Wikipedia, for what it's worth, backs me up: "They took their name from a nickname for the melodica," sez it. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hooters)

There used to be a band called Michael Hall and The Woodpeckers. There is also, apparently, a band called Dead DucK And The Flying Feathers (I don't know why they capitalize that 'k'). Also I've come across mention of two different bands called Birds Of Prey. Then there's The Magpies, Stan Carew and the Magpies, Tim Balash and the Chrome Magpies, The Barn Owl Band, Lark Vs. Owl, Black Owls, Inspector Owl, The Chicken Hawks, Eagle & Hawk, Matilda the Hawk, Shanna and the Hawk, Gregory and the Hawk, Studebaker John & the Hawks, Hawks And Owls, I See Hawks In L.A., Eureka Birds, Migrating Birds, Box of Baby Birds, Birds May Breathe, Actual Birds, The Bird Circuit, Disguised as Birds, and my favorite, Wow, Owls! (I have to confess I dunno what any of these bands sound like.) This is fun. I'm going to make myself stop now, though, because otherwise I'll be at this all night.

Also because I really just wanted to say, god how I hate that Eagles song. I remember driving in Arizona and seeing those billboards, and thinking "your town doesn't have much going for it if that's your big claim to fame.Rachelnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-655723944110190829.post-40486133035105537082009-10-13T14:18:34.052-04:002009-10-13T14:18:34.052-04:00The Hooters.
